André Previn conducts the London Symphony Orchestra playing Prokofiev’s Lieutenant Kijé Suite – a musical rendition of a story about mischievous soldiers who create the fictitious character Lieutenant Kijé. The czar, believing he has authority over the army, has Kijé flogged, pardoned, sent far away from Moscow, promoted to general, and posthumously demoted to private.
