Britain’s transition again

Coronation anthems

The British may have unreliable cars, poor plumbing, and stodgy food, but they do coronations with flair, even if they had to contract the composition of coronation anthems to a German immigrant. A group known as BritainShallPrevail has a recording of Handel’s Zadok the Priest, concluding with Purcell’s Come, Ye Sons of Art. (The YouTube video has pictures of British monarchs in chronological order from 1066.)

In less fidelity and in slightly fuzzy monochrome is another recording of Zadok the Priest at the coronation of Elizabeth II in 1953.
