Yemen through another lens

Yemen is mentioned this week, because the world has turned its attention away from the war raging in this country at the southern end of the Arabian Peninsula – a country once known as Arabia Felix at a time when the now oil-rich countries on the peninsula were comparatively undeveloped. Few people know about its long history and rich culture.

Omar Mahdawi shows us this extraordinary and ancient country through its architecture. The video is 35 years old: much of what Mahdawi shows has been destroyed, by modern architectural conformity and by war.
